Leg 7 – “I’m too drunk for this.”

It’s sunrise in Strasbourg and teams will open their first clue telling them to hop on a train to Frankfurt, Germany!

Arriving midday in Frankfurt, teams must make their way to Goethe Tower where they will climb up the tall wooden structure and figure out how to grab their clue hanging on wooden poles at the top.

That clue directs teams to The English Theatre Frankfurt where they will find the Detour: Cast or Crew.

In Cast, teams must learn lines to a scene from the latest production being staged here at the theater. Once they perform the scene, in full costume, to the satisfaction of the director, they will receive their next clue.

In Crew, teams will be given a list of items, including costumes and props, that they will need to purchase for the production. Given an allowance of money, teams must search area shops for the supplies and deliver them to the theater to receive their next clue.

After the Detour, teams must make their way to Eissporthalle Frankfurt.

Here, teams must learn several figure skating elements and perform them to the satisfaction of the judges to receive their next clue.

That clue points teams to the historic heart of Frankfurt, Romerberg. And here, teams will find the Road Block: Who’s got good taste?

For this Road Block, teams will need to match five different apfelwein to the original apple they were made from based on just a spoonful taste and bites from apples. Once they have correctly identified and matched the five, they will be given the next clue.

Teams must now make their way on foot to the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

They will head to the floor and search the boards for their next clue. The clue is hidden in some sort of pattern which spells out the Pit Stop: “PIT STO PAT ALTE OPER”. Teams are FORBIDDEN to help each other.

Teams will need to figure out the clue is telling them to head to the Pit Stop at the old opera house, Alte Oper.

The first team to check in here will win P200,000 courtesy of Shell V-Power Nitro+.

The last team to check in here WILL be eliminated.

“Director’s” Commentary

A good solid Leg in Frankfurt, I think.

Another train ride to save money, of course. Plus, it should be a good equalizer.

The Goethe Tower Route Marker originally had teams doing the typical “Search below for flag/clue/etc.” But since that would seem repetitive and boring, I did this random “clue hanging on a pole” pseudo-task. The pole will be pretty long and the clue pretty far out. Teams will need to figure out how to grab it. There’s a nice little task here, I just don’t really know what it could be though. lol

The Detour is simple and straightforward. A typical memory and perform task vs. maybe a more physical task since teams will need to go on foot.

The figure skating Route Marker should be the most challenging thing on this Leg. Getting teams to injure themselves by falling repeatedly on ice? Great TV, yeah? lol

I needed to do something with apfelwein so I thought this would be another typical, yet straightforward task. The task could be made more challenging by having teams do more types of apples, like 10 or 25. That would be great.

The stock exchange task is just another task to fill out the Leg. Yes, it brings back horrible memories of TARPH2 (the real one!) and their Leg 1 stock exchange debacle. But this will be a little more challenging, I think. Don’t mind that “screencap” above. The task should be difficult and not as obvious.

And finally, the Pit Stop after dark at the opera house should be beautiful in 4K UHD drone footage. Yes!
