Recap: Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters, Mission 39 – Finishing Blow! Messiah’s Fist

Go-Busters 39

A karate kid, Kenta, easily takes on a couple of big guys at the dojo. At the command center, they’re tracking people’s reports of seeing Messiah cards around the city, but one witness catches Ryuji’s eye. It’s from a kid who mentions a card with three lines on it, a detail the Energy Management Center has kept from the public. Kuroki sends the Go-Busters out to investigate.

Turns out the card seems to be in Kenta’s gloves, but it hasn’t become a Metaroid yet. Realizing the carnage he’s left behind, Kenta hides when Ryuji and Yoko arrive at the dojo. When they find him, he runs, but they catch up to him and ask if he’s seen a card, which he denies. Enter, having detected the card, appears with an army of Buglars.

Ryuji tells Kento to run and he pedals away, but is stopped by Enter who bows to him as if he is Messiah. Hiromu stops Enter, allowing Kenta to pedal the other way. The Buglars follow him and Ryuji follows them and sees Kenta soon taking care of the Buglars pretty easily by himself. Ryuji continues to chase after him as Enter retreats.

Enter realizes the card has not yet matured.

Ryuji cuts him off at the pass and nicely asks again if Kenta saw the card. He says no. Kuroki calls Ryuji to tell him he’s send CB-02 and to guard the boy. Kenta is in awe of seeing a Buster Machine up close and Ryuji deduces that Kenta likes mechas and has dreams to be an engineer. He points to the books in Kenta’s backpack as being book he too read when he was younger since his dream is also to become an engineer.

Ryuji wonders about what a strange combo engineering and karate make, but Kenta says he actually doesn’t care for karate. His father is a famous karate practitioner and despite strict training, Kenta never rose above white belt. When Kenta tells his father he doesn’t want to do karate, but be an engineer, his father scolds him for using his weakness as an excuse to run away. That’s why he wants to show his father now that he’s not going to run.

Back at the dojo, Yoko realizes Kenta’s gloves were red instead of the white that everyone else would wear. They call Ryuji to ask him to check Kenta’s gloves, but he won’t let Ryuji see them.

Go-Busters 39

Kenta tells Ryuji about seeing the card at the dojo one day, which is why he called it in. But it suddenly entered his gloves and with his stronger power, he wanted to beat his dad so he can accept his dream of being an engineer.

Ryuji tells him the gloves are dangerous and to take them off, but suddenly Kenta punches him and Messiah’s voice warns Ryuji not to interfere.

Go-Busters 39

Kenta runs to a plaza, puts red gloves on everyone and makes them fight him and each other. Enter sees the card is gathering fighting instinct data. Ryuji tries to stop Kenta, but Escape pops in. Hiromu, Yoko, Jin and J quickly arrive to keep Escape, who’s gone into her Evolve form, busy.

Go-Busters 39

Ryuji and Kenta take it to a warehouse and they continue to fight. Ryuji worries he might hurt Kenta while trying to remove the gloves, but Kenta, unable to control his own body, really puts a beating on him.

Ryuji tells Kenta he’ll save him and that he’ll be his final hope! Kenta shouldn’t give up on his dream. Ryuji starts to overheat and before MessiahKenta can deliver a final blow, Kenta manages to stop himself. The Messiah card taps into nearby Enetron allowing it to finally grow into Metaroid, Karateroid and pop off of Kenta’s hands.

Go-Busters 39

Ryuji tells Kenta he did a good job by being able to defy the card, saying his dream was stronger than Messiah’s power.

Go-Busters 39

Ryuji henshins and goes immediately to Powered Custom. Morishita is impressed how Ryuji intended to force the Metaroid to mature all along.

The Megazord is arriving, so Hiromu and Yoko go Powered Custom as well to finish off Escape, using Volcanick Attack and Rapid Kick, but Enter quickly comes to save her. Enter seems pissed.

Go-Busters 39

Escape asks why and Enter says he doesn’t know either. “But if possible… I don’t want to lose you.”

Escape is taken aback and they both retreat.

Go-Busters 39

Hiromu, Jin and Ji go fight the Megazord while Yoko goes to help Ryuji. He officially overheats and pulls a bigger than normal rock mass from the ground, but the Karateroid smashes it to pieces and Ryuji collapses and de-henshins. Yoko steps in to finish Karateroid off with Lioh Blaster.

Go-Busters 39

Ryuji is burning up and Gorisaki places an ice blanket on him as Hiromu, Jin and J finish off the Megazord.

Go-Busters 39

Kenta is at the dojo and firmly tells his father that he really wants to be an engineer and that doesn’t mean he’s running away. His father is pleased. All he wanted was Kenta to say that with conviction which he just did, so he gives his son his approval.

Kenta waves to Ryuji and the others who are down on the street and thanks them.

Episode Thoughts
Now there you go! This is the Go-Busters I like. A lot more action-packed.

It was definitely fun seeing a little kid kick major ass. I couldn’t help but think of Ryusei with all the “Wacha”s during the episode, so that was also fun. Speaking of Kamen Rider, Ryuji was definitely very Haruto when he told Kenta to not give up and to trust him. Ryuji was Kenta’s final hope!

I also noticed the strong recoil the Lioh Blaster had on Yoko. It was a small detail, but I guess it emphasized how strong it is and how Yoko is still a teen girl after all.

And how about Enter and Escape. The shipper in me saw that scene as Enter realizing his true feelings for Escape. In reality, it’s probably Enter realizing Escape is the only one that’ll be left on his side pretty soon. Also, it’s probably more him wanting to protect her in a little sister sort of way.

Very interesting and it’s crazy to think we’re about 10 episodes away from the finale!
