The Amazing Race Philippines, Leg 5 Wrap-up – “Right, left, straight, ahead, where?”

The Amazing Race Philippines, Leg 5 Wrap-up

Well, since apparently our “Superleg” is actually two separate legs, here’s a wrap-up of Leg 5.

And it was a crazy one!  And it was all about one Road Block.  A Road Block that ended Marc & Kat’s dominance.  And a Road Block that brought out some of the craziest, most hilarious meltdowns we’ve seen, certainly on TARPh, but even on any TAR.  It was a fun time.

And to more physical tasks, the extra task at the Shipping Terminal was interesting.  Of course it helped escalate the Dani-Mish extravaganza.  But again, it was the kind of task you just won’t see on TARUS anymore.

My Subjective Team Rankings for Leg 5

Dani & Mish Dani & Mish – Dani gets crazier and crazier each Leg and it’s hilarious.  Her random meltdowns are so strange they’re funny.  I do fear that her volatility will eventually cost them the Race, but for now they are good TV.
Ed & Angel Ed & Angel – Definitely a better Leg for them.  They are stepping it up which is awesome to see, both Race-wise and personality-wise.  Looks like they are not an easy elimination choice anymore.  Woohoo!
Saida & Jervi Saida & Jervi – They’re getting less and less fun as the Legs go on.  And it’s not even that Jervi’s shtick is getting old or anything, it’s just they haven’t really delivered much this Leg.
Sheena & Gee Sheena & Gee – They are definitely loosening up which means they’re getting louder and more fierce.  It’s interesting to see a fire in them now that wasn’t present in the first four Legs.
LJ & CJ LJ & CJ – The Yield certainly didn’t slow them down last Leg and they had a solid Race this Leg as well.  Also lots more personality from them which is good.
Marc & Kat Marc & Kat – Like it always has been, a team is more interesting to watch when they’re not dominating the Race.  And that was definitely the case in this Leg when we finally saw some personality from them when they, shockingly, weren’t good at something and fell behind.  I like them a lot more when they’re not accumulating a million pesos.
Fausto & Dayal Fausto & Dayal – Fausto’s alright, but Dayal’s increasingly starting to grate, becoming more self-centered by the Leg.
Boom & Cheng Boom & Cheng – Again Yielding LJ & CJ.  What a strange fixation.  I think I’m sure they are now the team that most people seem to love, but I just can’t like them.  (See: The Cowboys and the Globetrotters of TARUS)  Annoying and unfunny.
