The Amazing Race 8 Season Wrap-up

THE AMAZING RACE, SEASON 8: FAMILY EDITION WRAP-UP

Well, I still remember Phil Keoghan on THE EARLY SHOW saying that season 8 was going to be a team of 4 people from the same family. “WTF?” I thought to myself. “How the hell is this going to work?”

So, premiere night approached with me and my doubts, but then as the minutes counted down to 9:00PM, my excitement and love for THE AMAZING RACE just all came back.  Seeing all the teams with Phil there with his arm raised up ready to say “GO!” just reminded me why I love this show so much.

Yeah, they only stayed in the Americas, but have you ever been to Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon, Canada, Panama, AND Costa Rica in 25 days? Let alone seeing the world’s biggest office chair or the old lady’s shoe house or even the Tree of Utah. I wouldn’t mind traveling their same route.

And as the RACE progressed, I enjoyed myself more and more and despite probably having half of TAR fans quitting the show (or at least this season), I continued to love the season. The family aspect definitely added a different dynamic to the whole thing, and it was fun seeing 40 people (!!!) running around doing ROAD BLOCKS and DETOURS…

Carissa Gaghan was a great little girl, she competed with the best of the ’em, and no doubt she and her parents and brother would have made it far had it not been for the stupid red coffee bean. Bill and Tammy could have definitely ran the regular RACE themselves as well. Great family.

The Paolos, whom I completely hated at first, rapidly grew to be one of my favorite families. Their in-fighting reminds me of TAR3’s Teri and Ian, though Teri and Ian were never as harsh as the Paolos. Still, they were tough competitors too, they made first a couple of times.

The Rogers were an early favorite of mine, I wish they made it further. The Blacks didn’t have the time to make themselves known, while the Aiellos were a fun family while they lasted.

The Godlewskis are pretty funny when they’re not fighting, actually even when they’re fighting they’re funny. They could’ve been the first all-female team to win the RACE. The Bransens were good competitors as well, though what really gets me about them is the daughters and their disrespect for their dad, at least lack of respect.

The Weavers… I really don’t know. There are times when you want to sympathize with them (like at the Finish Line last night) but then there are times when you want to tell them to shut their Big Mac holes. Joking around and name calling is all part of the RACE, but the way they presented their “Christian values” and being “above” all the things the other teams were doing when they were doing those things themselves just showed their major hypocrisy.  Still, I think they are just totally oblivious, or were oblivious on the RACE. I guess now, they know what they look like.

And of course the Linzes. I think they rank at the top of my favorite teams list behind Kris & Jon (TAR6), John Vito & Jill and Teri & Ian (TAR3). That is the way you run THE AMAZING RACE. Have fun, be strong, be competitive, and just enjoy everything. I think they are the only team that has won THE AMAZING RACE that I am completely 100% for.

So THE AMAZING RACE 8: FAMILY EDITION is over, and THE AMAZING RACE 9 is ready to premiere after the Olympics in February. I love me my TAR8, but bring on the regular RACE!

EPS 08-12: EPISODE TWELVE: 25 DAYS, 50 CITIES, AND MORE THAN 600 CONSECUTIVE HOURS AS A FAMILY…

Running commentary tonight…

Ooo… lol, I remember that underground city from Francais class… lol, looks cool… I guess Lindsey Bransen doesn’t like the French, me either… lol

Rolly a man? whatever… The Bransens are in the lead, but just watch there be an hours of operation… OMG, Alex Linz was only helping Rolly get up, and ALEX was the one that tripped, come on Mama Weaver… chill out…

The Linzes and the Weavers found an earlier flight… there goes the Bransen lead… Should Mama Weaver really be yelling like that in the airport? Damn, one hour and 25 minutes behind the Bransens are now… YAY! Curling! I love curling lol, that’s fun stuff, I’ll be watching that event in the Olympics in February… lol the cameraman went on the escalator instead of the stairs…

What the hell??? Linzes… come on!!! You know the box was intentionally put there, becuase the producers KNOW that teams would miss it… geez Linzes, get it together!

COMMERCIAL: I wonder why they don’t have the Pillsbury dough boy do the “hehe” anymore… nor does he talk…

Back to the show… she said “tout droit” … bad luck for the Linzes… The Bransens make the same mistake… lol does Rolly know how to read????? I hate Ted…

Man, curling is so much fun… but that isn’t exactly how you play though lol…

The Weavers make the dumbest comments… hahaha “… La Porte J, which means ‘the Door J’…” that’s the funniest thing I’ve ever heard… Phil cracks me up…

The logging thingy looks cool too… ewe, Ted sucks… I hate that guy…

I want to go to Montreal now… lol, Mama Weaver just called her son “wierd” … Megan wanted to do it…

Are the Weavers that far ahead? lol… Oh great, the Bransens caught up…

Finally, the Linzes finish… all right, they better catch up to the Weavers… lol those Buick golfcarts are the best… all right they’re all together… wow, they have to look through the entire stadium… damn, $40 an hour… oh crap, the taxis have been there for a LOONG time…

Cool, they get to sleep on the field? Yay! the Weavers are last… lol, Mama Weaver is fast asleep… uh oh… Rolly Weaver is getting pissed… wow, will this be the final leg? the whole two hours? that’s awesome…

They get food on a charter? lol the boy is pissed or slow… I didn’t know the CN Tower was a “wonder of the modern world”… Canada is cool… Hmm, where else did they have to search the city for a flag? Tough stuff… What the hell was that recycling mat thing? lol… now THIS is a huge leg, even bigger than those double legs…

They all had to squeeze into the elevator… wow, this is really is an extended/super leg, TWO DETOURS and a ROAD BLOCK… lol that shoes detour sucks… lol… HAHA jackass Rolly… trying to high jump…

The sailing looks fun… oh damn, that detour REALLY sucks… you have to go through EVERY SINGLE woman to find who fits the shoe… omg… All right Bone… hurry it up… Oooo, Niagara Falls…

They really did do a complete circle of the United States, North and Central America really…Those look fun, the boats… like at Disneyland or something… OMG… FINAL DESTINATION CITY: Lewiston New York… come on, let’s go… The Final ROAD BLOCK!! OMG its just steps away!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude, this isn’t Survivor, what’s with the puzzles… lol… oh man, this is the most nerve wracking finale ever… come on Nick… GOOOO LINZES!!!! OMG, dude…

This has been the best TAR finale ever… omg that was freakin’ nerve wracking… the most exciting, the most edge of your seat finale since TAR2’s San Francisco footrace… wow… I think this was the best finish ever… seriously, the best… Are the Paolo boys crying because they lost? or becuase they are just so happy… wow… the best winners, the best finale ever…

The Weavers come in 3rd… rightfully so… you know that last moment with them makes my sympathize with them… if i forget all their hyprocrisy…but they have gone through a lot in the last year…

“WHO DEY!!”
